the drug manufacturers don't tell us about hair loss, brain damage, severe depression, hallucinations, spinal cord damage, memory loss, cognitive problems, shaking, etc. I've been on it for 5 years and my pre-prograf MRI of my brain was fine. Now I have brain damage. I've also been diagnosed as severely bi-polar, and my once thick hair is all but gone!

Lots of side effects, hair loss is severe. Tingling, blurred vision, and insomnia. I am very thankful for my liver. Six months tomorrow 8/5/2014.

I'm not quite sure if the epiver which I use is the reason for my muscle spasms or the use of prograf. I'm trying to dicipher this by educating myself about the uses of both. I'm being treated for the effects of RLS as well, a previous condition but aggrivated further post possibly by other medications. I'm trying to find out. I'm not sure of the improvement due to all of the combined elements. It's been 6 months. I'm just questioning what is the best way to treat my symptoms. My doctors have changed from transplant to maintenance and I'm not sure that my doctor in maintenance is very interested in the maintenance just my stability. I want to just feel better. I'm giving my all and pay highly for it. I'm finding self education to be my biggest tool. Are the changes I'm experiencing from prograf, epiver or lack of magnesium. My new liver is a miracle all it's own. Post transplant and the monitoring of prograf at the center where I was treated was of the utmost quality. We went through continuous blood monitoring and thorough physical monitoring for three months post. Many in my group didn't pass after three months with prograf. I basically AM VERY HAPPY. Prograf seems the least intrusive therapy and maintenance in accordqance with my body and lifestyle. Read More Read Less

After four years on this drug, I have had no rejection episodes. I have developed diabetes (but could be from prednisone). I take Reglan for nausea. My docs have been able to reduce my dose easily so my levels are relatively low.

I've used this drug for pancreas/kidney transplant in 2004. I know about many of the side effects, and the one that I have had a problem with is interuption of sleep. Taking Benedryl has helped with the sleep problem. Overall, the drug is doing what it's supposed to do. I've had no rejection episodes.

I actually have had very few problems with Prograf in almost 8 years until a recent dip in my liver & prograft levels that resulted in a higher dose for a few weeks. I started severe headaches several weeks ago that will not go away and have constant nausea so bad I can hardly eat. I do have to take a sleeping pill at night because of insomnia I think is caused by the Prograf. All in all, I feel that I have done very well and have been lucky not to have had some of the bad side effects I have heard others talk about.Read More Read Less

The side effects can be bothersome, severe headaches lasting for days, rapid fatigue and hand tremors. However the alternative is more bothersome.

This medication, in my opinion, is the best post kidney transplant medicine out here. I havent rejected like I did while on Rapamune and hope I never do.

I've suffered serious headaches as a result of this medication, in the form of tension headaches. Unfortunately, muscle relaxers don't work for me (because of other auto-immune diseases), so sleeping them off is my only option. Also, major changes in the dose of this medication cause me to have flu-like symptoms for two to three days after the change.
