BP running consistantly at least 150/100, hot flashes (perimenapause), SOB, nervous, heart palpitations interfering with sleep, Hyper or exhausted, no in-between. Was placed on two different anti-depressants and HCTZ, had allergic reactions to all. Smart physician suggested clonidine and I now have BP of 120/80 or lower, no more palpatations, hot flashes greatly decreased, and I'am able to relax. ...

DO NOT GIVE YOUR CHILD THIS DRUG. My mother took me off this med when I was prescribed for ADD because i was experiencing muscle twitches in my jaw. I almost experience mental retardation if it weren't for her taking me off of it.

After 20 yrs on enalapril that worked great, it was stopped due to ? Liver problems. Pressures went up to 165/120. Doc put me on Clonidine and after 1 wk I am falling asleep everywhere including car. Can't drive now. Have Sjogrens and dry mouth is so bad I can't swallow even with gallons of water. After 1 week I am irrational, irritable, quick to anger and have nightmares, very similar to reactions I had with codine and steroids which I can't take anymore. Have noticed increase in my Raynauds symptoms I think this drug is EVIL. Need 3/day plus my Toprol XL to drop pressure to 175/80 (enalapril it was 140/65. I will talk with doc and will definitely be going off this. I can't subject others to my temper and irrationality and I am a wife and mother an can't sleep all day and risk a car accident! Haven't had clonidine since last evening and I am shaking inside..extremely aggitated. Be Careful with this med!Read More Read Less

this drug is very effective in getting my BP down quickly, but the side effects are worse than the HTN. Because of the severe side effects I will quit taking this drug with or without my dr.'s approval.

This drug is very good at making you drowsey and helping you fall asleep at night. This drug you can take like 15-45 min. before you go to bed. This drug if you dont take it you may fall asleep 1 hr. later then with it. if overused you may wake up the next morning and feel disey and may cause drowdeyness.

Finally a medication that helps lower my pressure to a sane rate. It helped the other meds coordinate and get better control.

My son has Autism and has a hard time calming down and falling asleep. This medication really helps. I give it to him 30 minutes before bedtime and have no issues. Without this medicine, he may not fall asleep until midnight.

I am a Non insulin diabetic on oral meds, with high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Cholesterol is controlled with Lipitor and high blood pressure is effectively being controlled with Clonidine and other HBP meds. There have been no side affects; however, my doctor closely monitors my blood pressure & drug usage. It has been effective for me. Thanks.

I tried about 20 diffrent Rx with horrible side effects. I have been taking this for almost 2 yrs now & still experience the overwhelming need to sleep after a couple hrs and the dry mouth w/o eating a fairly sized meal. Overall, my BP has been great! I can live with these side effects but question...Since I'm now 38 & a homemaker, will I ever be able to take this medicine and not need to sleep off the effects in the morning so I can eventually work?

Obviously this medication makes one feel sedated and relaxed. I am 21 years of age, and as well as others have posted, I too had woken numerous times in the night due to vivid and realistic night terrors. This may be partial to personal psychological status. When I was on this medication, I experienced horrible dry mouth. I have been off the prescription for a few days now, and I cannot control my salivary gland. Saliva continues to build in my mouth on a couple-minute-basis. Overall, the drug does what it says it will do- but I have experience numerous side effects.Read More Read Less

My 3 year old has horrible nightmares and wakes up screaming 2 or 3 times a night since we put him on this medication. I told his doctor and he upped his dosage, Raymond is now tired all teh time, he has gained wait, and his nightmares are worse than ever. Take precautions when using this drug on young children.
