I have chronic severe pain due to pancreatitis, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and a host of other bummers that I don,t care to get into. My input will not be well-liked by most patients. From what I've read with exception of the rare kidney disorder, these so-called patients are looking for a "high". I have spent 35 years dealing with pancreatitis{chronic-relapsing} to be exact. Also known as "auto-...

I was on methadone for years then they changed (at my request) me to the fentanyl 25mg patch at but it chew up my skin. So off I go and request to be put back on methadone but now my pain doc say no but here try this opana and see if you like it. I hate it I constantly feel like I am coming out of my skin I don't sleep more that 3 hours at night I'd rather be back on the methadone at least it worked. My last option is a spinal cord stimulator, but afer 65 surgeries I've said enough. They say hine sight is 20/20 well let me tell you 10 and 1/2 years and building it is so true.. I wish I had let the cash drawer fall it has cost me so much my health my looks and my marriage. Read More Read Less

I've been dealing with pain in the spine between my shoulder blades for almost 4 years now. My pain manager had tried just abouut them all and they only reduced the pain to a non agonizing level. Started using Opana about 6 months ago and it is great. I can actually function through the day.

This is the very first time I have ever taken a medication that took away my pain!!!!! I have suffered for more than 15 years with severe back and neck pain. I have done everything possible to get the pain to go away. Opana and Opana ER have given me back my life. I can actually enjoy watching my boys (ages 12 and 8) play. I could barely get out of bed before starting on Opana. I am very grateful to the pain specialist that I am seeing for prescribing this medication for me. I have not felt any "high" with this medication. I have not suffered any side effects from this medication. I am very Thankful for this medication.Read More Read Less

I have had 4 herniated Disc's & use MS-Contin for a long acting Opiate & & I have used Dilaudid 8 mgs that gives me nausea, However I found that 10mg-30 mgs IR. Opana to be superior to either IR. Opana has been around for 20 years as first Numorphin or Oxymorphone. I just started using it, & aside for minor side effects it works when I am in Severe Pain. People who are in serious pain are not interested in the High, but the Relief the drug gives. I agree, if its not working for you, your not taking enough. I Am a Therapist & know there are no perfect drugs, but how we respond to them & the effort we make to understand our Pain. Read More Read Less

I had trouble tolerating OpanaER and IR at first. After I had been on it about 2 weeks, the side effects went away. Then I realized how well it was managing my pain. The only thing I have had to work with is making sure I take it at specific times or I will start having withdraw symptoms. I can tell if I miss my scheduled dose by one to two hours. But, it works better than anything else I've taken (methadone, oxycontin, dilaudid and several others). I was in a car accident when I was 21yrs old. It ruptured a disc in my neck (between C5 and C6),so it had to be removed. It has been 23yrs ago and now I have two more discs that are bulging along with facet joint problems. This medicine has allowed me to do so much more with my family without being miserable. I HIGHLY recommend OpanaER and IR for breakthrough pain. Read More Read Less

From what I've read with exception of the rare kidney disorder, these so-called patients are looking for a "high". I have spent 35 years dealing with pancreatitis{chronic-relapsing} to be exact. Also known as "auto-digestion" for those of you not in the business of pain control. I'm 51 yrs. old and if, I say if, I get high on my meds...boy to have that old feeling back. But it's not going to happen. Pain control is all I have. My method of using opana works for me. People, I've tried thm all in my search for the pain-free day, and opana gives me a leg up on it. My response to the gentleman who likes 8mg dilaudid, he's looking for a quick high, being dilaudid is an immediate release drug. 10mg of IR opana would make 8mg of dilaudid seem just ok. I was on exactly that before opana. Opana wins, hands down in the pain control area. Try living in the pain control world, instead of the "get high" world. Your life would be better. I wish you all well and God Bless.Read More Read Less

I have a rare and painful kidney disease, treated with an implanted pain pump. My pain doctor prescribed Opana 10mg for breakyhrough pain. Efficacy is poor with both short and long acting medications.

I started out with opana er, the regular opana, extreme nausea, very jittery, having trouble sleeping, makes me feel very weird, plus it is very difficult to get at any pharmacy, becasue not a lot of people are put on it, so it takes time to order it.

I have severe low back pain. Opana IR or ER either one just don't knock the pain out, they ease it but they aren't as effective as I would like.
