I have been unable to take any of the osteoporosus drugs for the past several years. Reclast is working for me both as an easier application, once a year, and better health. One thing I have noticed is that my fingernails no longer break and are becoming hard. The same with my toenails. I took Reclast 2 months ago and so far so good. My veins are very tiny and hard to find so I take the IV in...

Help, I received the shot 2 months ago and have been soo sick ever since. Severe nausea and vomiting has landed me in the hospital and has taken 2 months of my life. I have received a little relief from promethazine. My feet/ankles kill me with neuropathy. I am on Ultracet which somewhat helps and any other pain meds make me even more sick. Does anyone have any advice on the nausea/vomiting. I have lost 5 lbs which I could not afford becuase I am 5'5" and under 100 lbs.

The treatment went really well! I did everything I was instructed to do. Exactly 12 hours later the nightmare began. I developed a temp of 103.4 flu like symtoms, severe chills, bone pain, severe headache and neckache, I also was having trouble breathing. The only side effect I din not have was nausea. Today is day 4, I had to go to the ER yesterday due to severe chest pains and pain in my clavicle. I was given demerol and was told it could last several more days. Again last night I had fever, chills, and severe sweats. I am hoping this is coming to an end shortly! I would not advise anyone to ever take this drug! Iam in good health and very active!Read More Read Less

I took reclast two weeks ago & have been in pain in joints ever since. I have had severe flu-like symptoms. This week I have also had knots on my lower right leg. My primary-care Physician thought I had blot clots but that is not so. I still have much pain. Would not suggest anyone take this drug.

I am 62 years old had my infusion of Reclast three days ago and so far so good! It was a very easy procedure and was recommended by my doctors because I only have one kidney. I have to do everything I can to protect that one kidney so it was decided that Reclast was the answer to my severe ostoperosis. I actually feel better than I did before taking Reclast. The terrible pain in my back has subsided. I had a slight headache which was easily taken care of with two Tylenol. The true test will come when I have another bone density test.Read More Read Less

My experience with Reclast was very good. The nurse told me to take 2 Tylenol the night before treatment & 2 Tylenol the morning of treatment. She also told me to drink plenty of fluids before the IV. After the treatment, she told me to take more Tylenol. After receiving the IV, I felt fine the rest of the day. The next day I began to have mild flu symptoms. The following day I still felt a little bad, but continued with my normal activities. I will definitely take Reclast again next year. I could not take the oral medications because of digestive problems, so I am happy that this treatment is available. Read More Read Less

I am 73 yrs old & my bone density test showed that I needed treatment for Osteoporosis & my primary doctor recommended Reclast. She sent me to a clinic that gave Chemo and Reclast IV's. While being given Reclast intervenously, they handed me two pages of information about Reclast. They never told me to drink 2 glasses of water that morning prior to my treatment...when I asked about it they asked me if I would like some water which I of course accepted. At 1:00 am the following morning, I awakened with a nasty headache, diarrhea & 102 fever. 24 hrs later, I felt better, but experienced joint pain in my knee and needed a cane to walk. It has been almost 3 weeks since my IV and my hands, back, neck & ankles ache but I can get around on my own. It's hard to get moving in the morning and walking up the stairs is difficult. I'm hoping that I'll soon be pain free. I went back to the clinic and asked the nurse how long the joint pain usually lasts and she said 2 to 3 days at the most. I then mentioned that it's been over 2 weeks for me and wondered why I still ached....her reply: "I'm not answering you anymore". She needs to learn proper English and a better 'bedside' manner. I was very polite and did not expect that kind of reaction from her. I am not sure that I will take this drug again next year. Read More Read Less

I was scared to death to take this drug after reading all the reviews. But, like is human nature in so many areas, I've concluded that the vast majority of posters are the ones it hasn't worked for. In other words, if everything is OK, no one bothers to complain or post. If there's a problem, they come out of the woodwork. I just wanted to say this drug had absolutely no side effects for me, and won't for 99% of those who take it. You may see a few bad reviews here of those who have had side effects, but you won't see many reviews of the thousands like me who had no ill effects.Read More Read Less

I received my first Reclast infusion in November of 2007. I had previously used the oral drugs, but experienced severe digestive side effects and my doctor recommended I try the infusion. The day of the Reclast infusion I drank several glasses of water beforehand, and more during the day. I had flu-like symptoms that day, but by the second and third day I had only a mild headache. In June, seven months later, I had my annual bone density test. My hip had improved 7.6% and my spine 18.9%. I realize that all drugs have side effects and have the potential to be damaging, but brittle and crumbling bones also have side effects and can be damaging to ones way of life. Perhaps at some point in the future I will regret having the infusion, but today I made an appointment for my second infusion. It's hard to argue with the improvement I experienced. I am a 42-year-old woman who was diagnosed with osteoporosis at the age of 40. I recently was prescribed Reclast because taking oral Fosamax caused very bad heartburn. I received Reclast yesterday and suffered no side effects except for feeling tired. I am very healthy outside of having osteoporosis and I think this drug will work well for people who do not have chronic illness.

My doctor never told us that this drug hadn't been studied in patients who are taking anticolergenic drugs. Needless to say we had a lot of side effects. We are very disappointed.

I was an active 54 year old female that took the Reclast IV 4 months ago and in 4 months my life has changed dramatically. The first night I took it I was in so much pain that nothing helped me. I ran a fever of over 102 for one week. I needed help to walk and to move. My family physician called in two types of pain pills to no avail. Again, nothing helped me. Most of my bones felt as though they were broken. I was not told of these severe reactions that were possible. Even my family physician was shocked that I was so ill. One month later I took one antibiotic pill, the same type that I had used only three months prior to the Reclast injection. One hour after taking the antibiotic pill, I went into anaphylactic shock and almost died. At the hospital, we were told that if we had waited 10 minutes longer, I wouldn't have made it! Now, I have to carry an EpiPen because I am allergic to a whole family of that type of antibiotic. After lots of research of the internet about Reclast I found that this is one of the Reclast side effects. It has been four months since the injection and I feel worse that I ever did. I have trouble walking for any length of time and most of the time I am short of breath and my heart races. These are some of the other side effects I learned about later. I have also read the side effects that cause possible jaw rot.I am worried all the time of what side effect that may come next. I'm even afraid of getting my annual flu shot due to a possible reaction. My family has seen a dramatic change in my deteriorating health. I have lost so much energy since I've had the injection. Maybe women should age gracefully and not be used as experiments for new medicines. Ladies, please research all medicines before trusting the doctors.Read More Read Less

I received the infusion on May 1,2008 and experienced terrible joint and muscle pain and stiffness about 6 weeks after that date. I thought I had hip bursitis for a while. I also have had blurred vision and a bad taste in my mouth. Now I have developed high blood pressure for the first time in my life and am on blood pressure medication. I would never, ever get the Reclast again.

I switched to this treatment after two years of Boniva IV (I loved it, but my Dr. told me it was not preventing certain fractures) and six weeks of Actonel (stomach aches and migraines). I did freak a little when I read the user reviews the morning before the treatment, but went anyway. About 24 hours after the treatment, I felt like I was hit by a bus -- flu-ish, freezing and generally sick. But it only lasted 24 hours (I hope!) I will take the 24 hours of not being well, over one migraine a week for 52 weeks. I will continue with the infusions.Read More Read Less
