I am a chronic pain suffer for over 20 years. Last 5 yrs spent taking oxycontin, percocet & lortab on top of celebrex. I have had 9 surgeries in 12 years and my pain is from arthritis and true nerve damage in my neck and low spine. This drug is doing wonders for my pain. I am starting on the 50mg 6x a day like everyone else. Today is a month of treatment and I have noticed far less pain. I guess...

Nucynta is the first described pain pill I have found in the last 10 years. It takes my acute pain level down to a 5 except for my hips (they remain at a 10). I'm frustrated because it does work for the rest of my body. However, it has caused me to sleep walk, horrible dreams and when I wake up (much later than I normally do) my hands are in tight fists and it is very painful to open my hands. It also has caused me confusion. I am on 50 mgs. and I am hopeing they have it in 25 mgs., so I can continue taking it w/out the side effects. Thank you for allowing me to write my experience.Read More Read Less

I wrote the last review and failed to mention that the hardest part of getting used to this drug was the withdrawl of coming off of the Loritabs. The pharmacist at the pain clinic said most of my side effects were from withdrawl of Loritab rather than the reaction to this drug. Keep this in mind if you have been on other pain meds for an extended period of time.

I have been on 50mg 4x a day for 3 1/2 months now. I truely believe it has been great for me. I had previously been on Loritab 10mg for many years and I am using this as breakthru pain in addition to Opana ER 50mg 3x daily. I did have the rush of adrinalin in the begining but that soon went away and the good is definately outweighing the bad at this point. More mobile than I have been in many years and my family says I am more like my "old self". I am awake earlier and more active in my daily life. Good luck and hang in there and give this medicine a chance to get into your system before you rule it out. It did take me almost a week of being at home and not driving to get used to it. Now I am so much better I wouldnt change it for anything.Read More Read Less

This medication has not been satifactory. It does not reduce my pain and it gives me a short-term feeling of intoxication.

I have been taken this med (Nucynta 50 mg every 4 hours) for 3 days and I can't tell anything. I have been on Lortab 10, and percocet 10, and the only reason my doctor put me on this because my body has stop working with the other meds because I have been on them so long. My body hurts all over and all the time I have Fibromyalgia. Not sure what to do but I'm calling my doctor first thing Monday and try and get her to change this. But most of the time she won't call anything or see you until your next appt and I don't go back to her until Sept. 28. I have asthma and since I have taken this my asthma has been acting up more than normal. If anyone has anything to help our tell me of something that will help please let me know. Ihave had chronic pain for years and have received No releief with this pain medication. It had also caused increased sweating which is making an already intolerable medical condition even worse.

I find this drug to be just okay. Unless someone can create a new body for me I would have to take several a day for relief. I have been dizzy and very tired and sweating like some kind of farm animal. It would be nice to find a drug that really worked with little or no side effects. Over the years this problems with the lower back and hips has increased 100% and you actually would like to know why.I truly don't like being a in a test mode all the time.

I guess I don't notice the side effects like everyone else due to the amt of side effects I had on the other drugs does not even come close. The only noticable side effect for me is that I am losing weight. I could stand to lose a few pounds. The dr will be increasing the strenght this week and that should help with my break thru pain. For me its been a great treatment option. I know it really hasn't been tested for true long term use but I am going to try it because the short term relieve has been unbelievable! Weigh your options look at the side effects and decide for yourself if its worth it. If you were like me you didnt have anything to lose. By the way I have never stopped working due to my pain and this drug is really making it easier to work.Read More Read Less

I have been on pain killers for the past 16 years to try to relieve the pain in my lower back and legs. I take Kadian, Actiq and the latest drug on the list is Nucynta. I find that since I started taking the Nucynta I have been very dizzy, I have loss of short term memory and I have been using wrong words in conversations. One other problem that I noticed is that I could be lying down in bed and I'll drift into dream land and I can hear myself talking outloud, then I'll wake up with my eyes closed and I keep continue holding a conversation with nobody. I didn't take Nucyenta today and I won't take it again until I see my doctor on Monday. That's my experience Read More Read Less

When I started it I didn't notice any change in pain levels and was ready to give up. My doc asked me to try it through the weekend, so I did. That is when I noticed I wasn't having pain and got very excited. But today was a nightmear. I was having a hard time breathing and was dizzy and felt like I just wasn't there. I thought it was just becasue i hadn't taken the next does (to scared) but finally took it and it seemed ok. I felt like I was having a panic attack and now Im affraid to start all over in the morning!!Read More Read Less

As a sufferer of chronic pain for the last 10 years I've been on everything with every known side effect and then some. I'm currently seeing how this fares long term with my doctor and so far so GOOD. Yes there are some side effects however everything has them. It numbs my pain and doesn't "fog" me up like other narcotics. Im also on other meds SSRI's and still no issues worth mentioning. I've read nothing but horror stories of this medication and I just want to voice a positive opinion. It worked better than norco, vicodin or percocet, for me anyway. Read More Read Less

I have been on Roxicodone 30 mg tablets for a while now due to degenerative joint disease in my left hip. My doctor told ne about this drug and I decided to give it a try. This medicine has horrible side effects I was having a hard time concentrating on simple tasks, even talking and the dizziness was so bad I could barely walk. I do not reccomend this drug at all. I can't believe that this made it out of clinical trials to be honest.

I have been on Percocet 10/325 for 3 years. My doctor gave me this Medication to try. It did a good job on the pain but put my depression on HIGH SPEED. I felt like I wanted to go to the top of a high building and Jump. Also made me feel really odd in the head, like my head was the only part of my body in a pool. Be careful if you take this medication. Good Luck.

It did a fair job in helping me to cope with arthritis pain. Only use it one to three times a week. Less chance of getting addicted when used sparingly.

I have been on Loritab 10mg 4x daily for years and now taking Nucyta 50mg 3x day. It has been a wonderful alternative for my chronic pain. I would reccomend talking to your doctor if you have built up some immunity to other drugs and need pain relief for long term.
