I started using Plavix for this condition but I had too many side effects. My doctor changed me to Effient 10mg and once the Plavix was gone, I started to feel great. I have no side effects to this drug and if needed, I will stay on it for the rest of my life. Effient has been very effective for me.

I had back to back MI's in early 2013. First MI, Lad stened and placed on Plavix. 3 weeks later another MI in LAD. Larger stent placed and placed on Effient. Told I had to be on Effient 15 months and then switched to Plavix. I cannot wait for Plavix. Effient is very very expensive and when you are on Medicare Part D...you get into the donut hole QUICKLY! Thank God for a few samples. I am sticking it out for 15 months and then I want off thi8s stuff. I have felt poorly since being on it but I know I have to do this for 15 months and will follow orders. I will be 75 this month and know there is contraindications for my age but doctor said I must be on this until the end of May. I need dental and cataract surgery and cannot wait until I can have these surgeries. Read More Read Less

January 30,2013 was given a stent placement for one of two arteries in the heart that were partially closed and diagnosed with a kidney stone and told I had suffered a heart attack, which later was disproved, that they had to fix the heart before they could fix the kidney, which later was the cause of the arteries being constricted and source of the problem, I was placed on effient (prasugrel) 10mg once daily with an estimate of 6 months to 1 year for the stent to heal over. At this point a stent was placed in the kidney to open up the ureter and let the kidney drain and return to normal function and was released and allowed to return home from Denver to Alaska and referred to another cardiologist and urologist to have the stone in the kidney removed and the second stent placed. After seeing the cardiologist here it has been determined that a second stent is not needed and ensued a 4 month battle to get the kidney stone out while trying to decide if they would take me off of the effient long enough to perform the removal of the kidney stone which the heart doctors would not do. finally got the kidney fixed after it had started to bleed which proved to be easier than anyone expected and was in and out of the procedure without any major excessive bleeding and finished healing fast. It does cause excessive tiredness and fatigue that is so bad I almost doze off while trying to perform some task. Also in the last month or so bruising has started to show especially on the legs that has no apparent cause which they warn to watch for. Read More Read Less

started taking 10mg and 81mg aspirin after stent in LAD. Still getting chest pains, told doc but he doesn't seem concerned. I bleed a lot after i tiny cut, takes forever to stop. Also put me on protonix along with it. I was able to stop for 5 days to get shots in my back but back on it. Doc said take it a year its been over a year and he still wants me on it. I hate taking it

Have been on effient since 1 November 2011 after having a stent placed in my heart. Everything was fine for the first 10 months, but since then I've had problems with dizziness, disorientation, irregular pulse, abnormally low blood pressure, and nausea/flu-like feeling. I passed out cold in the dining room a year ago and its had my attention since. My doctor seems to want to poo-poo my reports of problems, but my wife is an ICU RN so he should know it's not in my mind...my symptoms are verified by my wife. Had all sorts of tests with nothing found and have only recently started looking at meds I'm on. Stopped Zantac first with no change, so I plan to get advice from my doc about anything I need to know when I stop Effient to see if it is the cause of my problems Looking down the list of side effects recently, I found at least 6 that apply to me and while the sick feeling used to be present maybe 2-3 days a couple times a month it is now with me nearly 24/7 to one degree or another. One bright spot though. As a diabetic needing to prick my finger, the ease of bleeding makes getting that blood sample a lot easier than without Effient! LOLRead More Read Less

I had a stent installed for a blocked LAD artery in last week of April 2013. Since then I've been on 10mg Effient, 81mg aspirin everyday and 10mg Atorvastatin every other day. My worst of the side affects are the constant head and neck aches. Now let's add fatigue, muscle aches, dizziness, bruising and feeling disoriented to the list. I think I'll have a party when I get off of this stuff!! Golf game has suffered because of these side effects also. Effient is expensive and cost $206 for the first month. Since then my doctor has given me samples to help. Read More Read Less

Had three stents 4/6/2013, I take 10mg Effient and 325 Aspirin. Only side effect is some easy bruising and slow clotting of cuts....this is a little annoying since I'm a Chef. Just have to be very careful and carry around tubes of super glue.

I had a stent installed in 2011, I was on Plavix for one year, which during the time on Plavix had internal bleeding issues, had to have 5 blood transfusuions, doc's did upper and lower GI to find bleed no success. once off bleeding stopped. I just had 2 more stents placed 7/5/2013, cardio has put me on effient 10mg, and 81mg aspirin, usual bruising issues ,and bleeding that is associated with blood thinners. Some tiredness, but also extreme skin peeling on hands, and itching of hands. I have called Cardio to see if this peeling will last, My hands look hideous. I'm 59 year old Male. Read More Read Less

Given Plavix after stent placement. Was immune to Plavix and stent closed resulting in second stent placement in LAD. I have been on Effient and 81 mg asprin for 1 year - had recent angio - stent is wide open. I bruise very easily and cuts take longer to heal. i exercise 5 days a week - having trouble loosing weight but happy with Effient results.

I was put on Effient-10mg after receiving 3 stents. Within two weeks I broke out in a bad rash & hives all over my back/buttocks. Terribly itchy. Got off & am now on Brilinta. (a little over two weeks & no problems so far) Took rash several days to completely go away once I stopped the Effient.

Within an hour of taking the first pill, I developed hives. I never had hives before. The next day, after taking a second Effient 10 MG pill I went to the emergency room for help. They took me off Effient and on Plavix, and gave me streriods and benedryl and said that I would continue for 3-4 days until the drug left my body.
