Had radiation treatment, ended 9 Dec 14. PSA was 15.7 at start now .02 for 3 tests. DR. says the DRE soft and no bumps, I should be very happy. I need to take this stuff so I do: but it does have a few side effects. Hot flashes (can be troublesome to totally awful can also causes cold flashes "ick"): Received prescription to help with hot flashes, ANTI-DEPRESINT: works but it is not perfect, ca...

I was instructed to be on the 3-month dosage for 2 years for APC, Stage T3a. For what was supposed to be my last injection, Urologist office by so called error gave me the 6-month instead, make sure to ask to see the packaging prior to mixing you are getting the assigned dosage. Do not go with the 6-month ever. Not good when your system became used to the 3-month injection. Going in after 6 weeks the side effects and newer have escalated!

I have hot flashes galore and just tolerate them. I was put on Eligard and had multiple side effects, more so than with Lupron.

PSA from yearly physical in Nov. 2017 was 2.3 which is considered in normal range. In 2018, at age 67, it was 10.4. Had PET/CT scan and then biopsy. Diagnosed with advanced, aggressive prostate cancer. Not in bones, only prostate and a few of the surrounding nodes. Gleasons were #9+. Began Lupron Depot shot (6 month dose) and Xtandi (4 pills once per day). Did 9 weeks of heavy radiation treatments. Last three PSA tests were 0.01. Am on Lupron Depot (just had third shot) and Xtandi for a second year. So far so good. Side effects from both drugs are pretty strong. Rise in blood glucose which is being monitored. Metallic taste in mouth. Extreme fatigue and weakness. Insomnia. Extreme hot flashes day and night. Incredible muscle pain especially in shoulders and lower back. Brain fog. Occasional loss of balance. Most of my hair has fallen off my body except for head (drs. said this would happen). If this is what I must tolerate to live another ten to fifteen years, I can tolerate it. Read More Read Less

I need to take this stuff so I do: but it does have a few side effects. Hot flashes (can be troublesome to totally awful can also causes cold flashes "ick"): Received prescription to help with hot flashes, ANTI-DEPRESINT: works but it is not perfect, can leave you tired and felling like a zombie. Mood swings can be epic: Yesterday I started to cry at lunch in a restaurant and just could not stop! Lupron likes to "hang out with my arthritis". Memory is a "bit mushier", name recall just awful, but it was never excellent. Concentration on a project is more difficult. Getting bored is easy. If you take Lupron try to set aside 10 hours a day for sleep! Problem here is I get up 4 to 5 times every night to go "pee" and that involves sitting (absolutely on standing) for 4 to 6 minuets. But I stand during the day and it is no different that it was before. SO go Figure. Sleep is a real problem -- I have sleeping pills, I would rate them on a scale of 1 to 10 about a 3; sleeping pills can leave me groggy in the morning, but that only last until noon, GEE WHAT A GOOD deal! SO, I BITCHED enough; I need to have this stuff in me for another year, AND I WILL DO IT!Read More Read Less

The Lupron shot has made my pain worse and I have gotten most of the side effects including speech issues, memory issues, and weakness in arms and legs, mostly on my left.
