Here is an honest review: minastrin is chewable, it doesn't taste that bad, most people here are overreacting. It tastes like one of those dot candies that come on paper, but if said candies had gotten old and kind of gnarly. Not the worst, not the best. I had been on loestrin 24 fe for 7 years. It was very disheartening to find that they would be changing the birth control that I had beco...

I gave this BC a poor rating because I have not started on the pack yet. I am switching over from Lo Loestrin Fe. The only problem I had on Loestrin was break through bleeding and thats it. The dr. told me the dose was to low for me since I wasn't getting my period until the middle of the pack, etc. I read the reviews on my new BC (Minastrin) and I'm worried, but people reading these reviews that ...

i switched to this pill from generess fe because of insurance. At first i felt some negative changes in my moods for the first 4 months. I was very irritable and emotional. I noticed that it caused less vaginal dryness than my other pill which was a plus. It has protected me from pregnancy so far (about a year) and also reduced my periods. The first few months I had seemingly horrible cramps around the time of my period but they subsided and now i rarely get cramping and this month I had little to no bleeding. Overall i am happy with this pill.Read More Read Less

Okay, about 2 yrs ago I began take LoLoestrin as a form of birth control.. For me it was a terrible experience. I would get my period every other week with excruciating cramps & really depressed. I called my GYN and switched to Beyaz. Beyaz was fine with me.. Stopped taking birth control until 4 months ago when my GYN would (idk why should would prescribe me this if she knew it was a problem) prescribed me Minastrin . It gives me chronic yeast infections. And last month I got my period a week early then when the time finally came to get it, I only was bleeding lightly for 3 days. Now Im on the second week of my fourth month and I have had mild cramps and aches in my lower belly for a couple weeks now. This one also gives me depressed thoughts. I'll be switching off. (JUST BECAUSE THIS WAS A BAD ONE FOR ME DONT THINK ALL MY SYMPTOMS WILL BE YOURS) -Best of luckRead More Read Less

I started taking minastrin, like everyone else here I assume, after they discontinued Loestrin 24 fe. I loved loestrin and I was told minastrin was similar. Well for starters its chewable and it did the job of making sure I had lighter periods, but on the down side it did slow my metabolism way down and I gained around 15-20lbs so that was a major downside. I did not have any breakthrough bleeding but I did have a very low sex drive which my husband noticed immediately. No mood swings but I was extra-sensitive. Anyway I would have stayed on, but my new insurance doesn't cover it. I would recommend that you at least try. Everyone is different. Now I am on the new generic Loestin 24 called Lomedia. sigh, I hate change but hopefully everyone has good luck with their minastrin!!Read More Read Less

I've been on this for about 3 months now. At first, I was fine with little to no symptoms. I had some spotting, but I figured it would go away later on. In the past month or so, the spotting has gotten worse - it occurs every other week, lasting 3-4 days long. It started making me feel bloated too. This pill was not for me.

Switched to this pill because and old pill was causing bleeding between periods... From the time I started this pill it gave me terrible acne. I have never had acne in my life. And it wasn't just a pimple here and there .. It was very large white head acne...all over... Switch to something else right away!

Want to throw in a good review against some of the scary reviews on here, since they terrified me when I first started taking this pill and wanted to read up on it. This was my first experience with a birth control pill, and I'm not pregnant, so, good to go there. For someone who likes routine, I have no problem taking the pill at the same time everyday, which is why I chose the pill over an IUD. I did notice an initial weight gain and mood changes when I first started taking this medication, however that has definitely mellowed out now and my weight is back to what it was before I started. I've been on it for about 10 months, and the biggest change for me has been my period - I used to have slightly unpredictable, always heavy periods with cramps that were so painful I would have to miss school and work. My periods now are so much lighter, last maybe 3-4 days and are much much easier to deal with. It took some getting used to that, especially when I first started and my body was still adjusting, so some months I barely got anything and was worried I was pregnant. However, after talking to my doctor, she explained that that's how this pill works. So if you were just prescribed this and are a little worried after reading these reviews - do not panic. Trust your body, give it a trial run for a few months and make your own conclusion, as it might work great for you, like it has for me.Read More Read Less

With hemorrhaging that was so not the norm, terrible raging hormones, I was diagnosed with early menopause. This Rx quickly calmed my nerves, got me on an even keel, significantly decreased my monthly bleeding. After reading other reviews, I imagine this Rx is better for "older women" closer to menopause. It's been a God-send to me.

I have been on so many birth control methods (pill, condoms, ring, patch, IUD) and this is by far the worst one I've experienced. I was on lo loestrin before they switched the drug to minastrin fe. I was nauseated and immediately gained 10 pounds. Over the past year and a half I gained another 15 pounds!!! I have horrible mood swings and am extremely emotional for no reason. I used to have 2 light days for my period, now I have 5 heavy days. My sex drive also plummeted when I was switched to this bc. The weight gain, mood swings, and the heavy periods are why I am going off of this. I tried everything to lose the weight (exercising, vegan diet, supplements, etc.) and I know this is why I gained the weight. I fear for my health now and hopefully the damage won't be lasting. If you have negative side effects after two months, I would stop taking this drug if I were you. Symptoms got worse over time for me.Read More Read Less

I haven't gotten pregnant, so that's something. It's made my period much easier to deal with and that's wonderful. I'm a little worried it may be affecting my mood. I've always been a little neurotic but these last few months since I've been on this pill have been intense. I cry sometimes for no reason at all and I feel horribly anxious about trivial things. I can't blame the pill with certainty, but I have been wondering if there's a connection.

I have been on this product for almost 3 months now. After being on it for about 1 month I started to notice that I just wasn't as happy as I used to be. Within the last month though I have become an emotional wreck. I have horrible mood swings were I go from laughing, to aggravated, to extremely anxious. I have been insanely depressed and I will cry for over an hour for absolutely no reason. I am a junior in college and it has gotten to the point where I can't even go to class because I never know when I'm going to start crying again. It is also effecting my relationship with my boyfriend. There have been multiple times where we will literally be laying in bed minutes after having great sex and I will literally burst into tears. At this point I hate to even be around myself. Take the warnings seriously, if you start to have bad mood swings, STOP taking this pill!! Read More Read Less

I have been taking Minastrin FE for a little over a month now. It is my first time taking the pill. I began taking the pill in order to get my body used to it before my fiancé and I get married this summer. Over all, I have been pleased with my experience using this pill. I was a little scared after reading all of the mixed reviews because I didn't know how my body would respond to the pill. Out of the side effects, the only 2 I have experienced are breast tenderness and enlargement, which I really don't mind because I am small chested anyway; and I have also noticed an increase in appetite. I've been a lot more hungry since I've been taking the pill. I am not currently sexually active, so I can't anything regarding their effectiveness; however, I have been so thankful to have had very few and very mild side effects from this pill Read More Read Less

had the chewables, hated that, they taste gross. They did help to lighten my period and lessen my extreamly painful cramps to almost nothing. It did not help my acne but i dont think it caused any mood swings, nausea, or weight gain.

I'm 19 and have been taking it for about 8 months. It has caused terrible mood swings, weight LOSS (in a bad way, I'm not at a healthy weight), and extreme vaginal dryness. The only thing it has done is having zero periods and no pregnancy. But, due to my awful mood swings and crying spells, it is a huge factor in causing unnecessary trouble in my relationship with my boyfriend. I get so angry all the time and let it out on him, leading up to a bucket load of tears. I've been off it for only TWO days and even though my period has quickly arrived, I feel so HAPPY and I feel like all this pressure in my head has dissolved. I feel like a brand new person without it. Read More Read Less

I have been taking Minastrin Fe for about 8 months now and it is overall great. Normal side effects occurred during the first two months which was nausea!! I was constantly feeling sick majority of the time even though I take it everyday same time at night around 9. But Ive gotten use to it and no problems . Also great as an contraceptive... Has been doing its job becaus I'M DOING MY PART TAKING IT CORRECTLY. Nausea happens every now and then now even after months of taking it but I believe it's because I dance and my metabolism is fast and I get hungry all the time lol so while I'm at rehearsal late night and take it I forget to sneak in a snack. But other than that I'm pleased. Periods are pretty normal except one month their was just spotting. Read More Read Less

I was horrified at the thought of taking this birth control after reading most reviews. My doctor assured me that it was one of her favorites and it would help with my severe cramping and heavy periods. After beginning the medication I did have some slight side effects, with breast tenderness and would wake up with stomach pain. I decided to continue with it like my doctor said and give the medication at least 3 months. Within my second pack of the pills all of my side effects have subsided and I have not had any issues whatsoever. My periods have are nothing more than light spotting and last about 4 days. I could not be happier.Read More Read Less

I was put on this drug to regulate my periods. Flow varies, but periods are much much lighter and shorter. This month I didn't have a period. I have not experienced nausea, mood swings, breast tenderness. I have gained weight but it was also taken over the holidays so I cannot attribute it to the pill.

I started taking Minastrin after being on Lo-Estrin for several years. The first month of taking this was horrible, I was emotional, crying, moody..I did have a small period. The next two months I had no period at all with some nausea. I have taken 2 test and both were negative. I have not noticed any weight gain or any worse acne than before. The only complaint I have with this medication is the lack of a period. It's reassuring for me to have one and scary when I don't have cramps/bloating/spotting when I am supposed to start. I have only been on this birth control for three months so I am going to stick with it since I don't have any other negative side effectsRead More Read Less

I switched over to Minastrin when I was told they were discontinuing Loestrin 24. The first couple of months were fine until the past three. I don't know why my body starting rejecting it, but I have been having horrible mood swings, my emotions are out of control, my periods are worsening and my lower abdomen is extremely sore from the bloating. I didn't take the Minastrin for two days just to see how I felt and I went right back to feeling fine again. After learning Loestrin is still on the market, I'm switching back since I can't stand it anymore. Hoping I'll feel normal again after the switch next month!Read More Read Less

I've been on this birth control for 15 months and I've been pleased. I got on it because of painful cramps and heavy bleeding. I've experienced no weight gain but do suffer from mild PMS right before starting. Cramps aren't bad and my period lasts 3-5 days. I've also been having unprotected sex regularly and have not gotten pregnant. So far this drug has satisfied all my needs.
