Was put on Tarina after Microgestin due to PPHD. I had heavy period-like symptoms in the first few months but the bigger breast size made it worth putting up with. It's been a year and a half and I just realized that all the symptoms I've been feeling is because of this pill. Loss of appetite, I lost almost 30lbs in 3months with no change in diet, EXTREME mood swings like Crying or angry for no re...

I started taking this pill about 3 weeks ago and I am four pills away from my placebo pills. This is the first birth control I have ever used so I wasn't sure what to compare it to. Overall, most side effects I read up on Tarina were true, but we all have different bodies that react differently. My first week on Tarina I experienced awful diarrhea every morning and would wake up incredibly nauseou...

I have been taking Tarina Fe for a full month now and I can truthfully say it has been amazing. No breast tenderness, no spotting, no weight gain, no depression. I did become extremely nauseated on week 2 of the pills. I believe it was because I was taking the pills on an empty stomach in the mornings. Once I switched to taking the pills at night the nausea went away completely. I wanted a low dose birth control because I used to take Ortho Tri Cyclen and that birth control made me coo coo crazy! The depression and mood swings were out of control. I could just feel that it was harmful to my mental and physical state so I immediately got off. Tarina Fe seems to be working perfectly for me. That is why I cannot understand the negative reviews? I was terrified to even start Tarina Fe after reading the reviews, but am so glad I took a chance. Every -body- is different so every woman will have a different experience. I am just so ecstatic this particular birth control is working for me and therefore felt the need to write a review. Good luck on your quest to proper birth control and remember to listen to your body. When I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen I picked up a butter knife and wanted to harm my boyfriend at the time. That was my cue to get off Ortho Tri Cyclen as soon as possible. I scared myself and knew the hormones were taking over and were beyond my mental control. Tarina Fe has been a blessing thus far and I am happy to report I have not picked up any butter knifes and feel like the same joyful, sane me. Read More Read Less

Was put on Tarina after Microgestin due to PPHD. I had heavy period-like symptoms in the first few months but the bigger breast size made it worth putting up with. It's been a year and a half and I just realized that all the symptoms I've been feeling is because of this pill. Loss of appetite, I lost almost 30lbs in 3months with no change in diet, EXTREME mood swings like Crying or angry for no reason at all. Headaches, blurred vision (i had to get glasses ) nausea, increased sex drive (my husband doesn't mind this) anxiety, I started getting depressed a lot, had bad dreams and woke up crying, extreme anxiety, pimples/rash around my mouth, itchy neck, and the worst problem I'm having now is muscle weakness in my hands, arms, neck and shoulders. Sometimes my hand would swell up, or just go stiff. Like it wants to curl up into a fist. I've noticed muscle weakness in my legs too, they'd hurt as if I had worked out when I haven't even been to the gym. I'm not sure if tarina caused all of those symptoms but I've never experienced anything like that while on anything else. I just went off it this month (October'16) and I hope those side effects will go away soon. I hope this helps someone, just like the other reviews helped me realize what the problem is. Tarina did its job as a contraceptive but The cons definitely outweigh the prosRead More Read Less

I've been taking tarina for 3 weeks. I was not put off by the breast tenderness and the larger cup size and the seemingly constant spotting because my doctor told me that is normal for about 2 months when just beginning a pill. However, I cannot handle the bleak and depressive feelings and moods I have developed. I wasn't perfectly happy before the pill but I've never in my life experienced such depression for so long and I do not have a family history of depression or mood disorders. I do not like to even think of sex anymore, I cry at sad songs, and my school work quality has tanked. I'm glad to know I'm not alone and hopeful I'll feel better soon. Read More Read Less

I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one facing the same problems due to this pill. I've been on this treatment for over a year and for the first month I suffered horrible headaches which thankfully never returned. Afterwards, I've noticed a bit of weight gain followed by unbearable mood swings and depression. The only positives were that my acne cleared up significantly and it almost vanished my cramps along with my heavy menstrual bleeding.

I have suffered from endometriosis since my teens, after having my son I also developed pcos, and after a miscarriage last year while on nuvaring I developed menorrhagia which caused me to use overnight pads switching every 1.5 hours and lasting 10 days. I started Tarina in May to help with these all even looking for a slight relief in cramps, but I couldn't be more happy. Not only are ALL of my symptoms of endo, pcos, and menorrhagia gone, but I no longer have depression fits, no more migraines. And I have zero mood swings. On top of that, my period consists of spotting for about 3-5 days and only needing a panty liner. Everyone's body is different, so don't go off of reviews when selecting a b.c. I have been taking Tarina for a year. The only and biggest issue about this BC is that I have become depressed and have developed anxiety. Prior to going on the pill I was pretty even keel. However, since going on the pill I find myself crying and having intense irrational moods. I didn't put two and two together until my relationship began to really take a nose dive because of my mood. Personally, the con outweighs the pros of being on the pill.

I switched from Microgestin to Tarina due to Planned Parenthood. I had finished school and this was the only option for me at the time. I use BC to stop my periods. I get highly emotional and depressed before my period (1-2wks before). Though I know the timing, the emotions always catch me off guard and its hard to tell yourself its just your hormones. The depression was getting out of control so I needed to level my emotions around this time. Tarina is in PP's network and therefore, cheaper than my old BC, at the time. I would not recommend. The estrogen was too high for my body and I began to breakout every week in my chin/jaw area. I've never had that much acne in my life. I rarely had it in middle or high school. I recommend trying things to see what's best for your body. Don't just listen to your doctor. You know your body so if it doesn't feel right, make them listen.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this medication to help decrease my heavy and painful periods and as a birth control. It is extremely effective as a method of preventing pregnancy. However, after being on this medication for five months my periods ended up being longer in duration, and I ended up spotting/bleeding every two weeks in which that would last up to ten days. I also experienced extreme mood swings and tiredness (most likely from loss of blood from constant spotting/bleeding). After sticking it out for a few months and letting my body adjust to the medication I have decided that the negative side effects do not outweigh the benefits. Read More Read Less

I've been on Tarina for about a year now. I really don't understand all these bad reviews! I guess everyone's body is different but this is my first birth control I started. At first, I had a really long period but then over time it gets shorter and a very light period to around 3-4 days. However, the periods were my most painful periods I ever had. Most stomache and back pains. I would just take an Advil and feel better. Overall, this pill is works pretty good.

This was my first time taking any kind of BC. I WOULD NOT Recommend this brand at all! I've been crampy, having body aches, sex drive is completely gone and I'm losing clumps of hair.. Not just a little bit of hair as if you were to get it off you after you showered.. Big clumps as if you cleaned your hair brush twice! I have uneven hair and it's very brittle now. Very very unhappy with it and need to switch!

So my doctor put me on this pill because of my excrutiating periods. I had to always miss school/work and had my mom taking care of me every time I got my period. I couldn't handle it anymore. I'm not worried about getting pregnant since I'm not sexually active but this has gotten rid of my cramps completely and its heaven. I don't even need to take not even one advil when I start my period I just feel nauseas/tired which is normal. I have been on tarina for two months now and the first month my mood swings were insane. I would cry almost every day for no reason and go off on everyone and hated my life lol. I was VERY bloated and I'm a tiny girl who works out and eats healthy. The SECOND month my symptoms did go away. I think my body was just adjusting. Still a little emotional here and there but the bloating went away and so did the cramps. My "period" lasted longer than usual but it was so light I just needed a panty liner and I get some spotting hereRead More Read Less

I switched from Chateal to Tarina due to my doctor's recommendation. Tarina is the worst BC I've ever taken in the past 10 years. It gave me extreme mood-swings everyday for no reason! I would get so angry over even the littlest thing. I also noticed weight gain as well- which made me even more upset when I go to the gym 3 times per week. Lastly, I've been getting my period twice a month, lasting 14 days. I'm getting off this BC immediately. This is completely bizarre!

Where to begin... It's awful! Very effective as a birth control but the side effects just aren't worth it for me and I'll never take it again. Period comes for 7+ days, I get about 7 days off, then repeat. My period used to be 3 days, every 28 days, and now it's so unpredictable and long lasting I can rarely have sex with my fiancé (hence an effective birth control! Smh). It also makes me very emotional and I'll get depressed and cry for no reason at all (even at an amazing birthday dinner). Mood swings where I'm fine one minute then either crying or angry the next. I also get very tired, sometimes going down for a nap after lunch and having no energy to get back out of bed by dinner. No other symptoms though, but those are enough to affect my daily life that I'm not interested in taking them again. When I first started, the pills were great and I experienced none of this. Each month it seems to get worse and now I'm an emotional wreck. Noticed it comes on when I get my period (which on these can be 2-3 times a month) and whenever I begin the inactive week. As a 27 year old, I've been on many different BC pills over the years...Tarina is the first I've taken where every single day I show/feel a noticeable amount of water retention, as well as bloating, constipation, fatigue, and headaches. Now (this was my first month taking this one) a missed period on top of it all. I've never missed a period in my life, and am never more than two days late after switching types of pills. It's now at the end of the fourth day, and nothing! I'll be switching again if I have the same symptoms in a month. Read More Read Less

Got switched from Microgestin to Tarina and was told it was the exact same. However, found myself becoming emotional and moody. Also, period lasted for over a week - almost two weeks of light spotting. It was a hassle if anything and I stopped taking it. Microgestin did not do that to me.

I just finished my first script, this is my very first time taking any sort of BC. At first I noticed myself getting very very moody. My period also lasted 14 days. (7 days longer than usual). Also my breasts were very sore. If these symptoms continue I will most likely switch to a different BC.

The first month or so of taking this birth control I was incredibly irritable. Luckily, that subsided. Also during the first 2 months, I spotted for a week before my period. Overall, my periods are lighter and shorter now that I have been taking it for about 5 months. I don't have many side effects from it other than occasional appetite changes, but those are lessening with time.

I originally started taking Tarina Fe because I was experiencing irritability on others I had tried. Overall I was on Tarina for 3 years, after about 2 I started missing periods. I would still have bloating and cramps, just no bleeding. Ultimately I was put on a different pill because I didn't want to be panicking and taking pregnancy tests every single month.

I also have been havving 2-3 periods a month when taking this pill. Not sure if I pay enough attention to my moods, but prob has been the main factor in all of my crazy and emotional crying that has been happening. Have taken others and I would not recommend this to anyone...actually would not recommend taking any birth control, they are poison and after years of taking, I have seen the difference.
