I have been taking this generic form of Celexa for ten years, next month. I was hesitant about getting on any mood med, but it has helped me tremendously. I am here writing this review... that's the point, I'm here. Diagnosed with major depression at 19, I was prescribed this pill by my family physician after several doctors visits relating to depression and its toll on my mind and body. It took m...

My doctor prescribed me 20mg Citalopram for depression. After a few weeks, there was some improvement, but I felt the drug helped my anxiety more than the depression. The dose was increased to 40mg. Still felt "lopsided", in that the anxiety was under control but not the depression. This drug clouded my judgement, as I said some things and felt like I put my foot in my mouth! Very embarrassin...

It's helped me metally and emoionally, but the only big problem has been not being able to have an orgasm.

I suffered from severe anxiety and panic attacks. Its was dabilitating and I felt like I was having an out of body experience, regularly. I have been taking celexa for 5 weeks now and just increased my dose to 20 mg. I take klonopin with it. it seems to be helping. I am concerned bout weight gain for when I was on Zoloft I gained weight. Has anyone experienced weight gain with this drug?

Effects were immediate for me. The results are very positive. My sense of despair has vanished...my emotional mood swings are minimal, and my irritablility dramatically reduced. My only caution is that I started on too high a dose at first and had some bad side effects. Once that issue was addressed, I have been extremely pleased.

Was prescribed this to help me sleep and address panic/stress episodes and moodiness/depression that accompany my adult ADHD. Took 20mg one night to help me sleep and it kept me awake for two nights. Took 10mg this morning with my Adderall XR 20 and my heart rate and blood pressure have raised considerably. Have the fidgets, my hands have to constantly be moving or doing something, can't stop pacing, when I sit I start rocking back and forth, rapid speech, feel like I am about to crawl out of my skin, throat is getting sore. Not a good drug to treat the panic and anxiety that can accompany adult ADHD, nor to help with sleep.Read More Read Less

After suffering for 6 years with depression and anxiety issues this has been a god send. Within the first 2 weeks I began to feel like myself again. I take it before bed every night and I sleep 100x better (I have been on and off prescription sleep meds for my insomnia for 2 years) the only side effect that really bugs me is increased sweating. It seems when I am dealing with a situation that used to send me into an anxiety attack I can handle it mentally but not physically. I have experienced a loss in appetite opposite to most of the reviews I read but with all the left over baby weight plus my late night stress/depression bingeing it doesn’t feel that bad. I also finally feel enough like my self to go back to swimming and the gym. So I am sure that I can get my appetite back under control. Read More Read Less

Took my first dose last night, 20mg, to help me sleep and to ease stress and panicky feelings. Only slept 3 hours, was wide awake at 4am and too hot to stay under the covers.....and I usually am freezing. Got out of bed at 5:30 because I was unusually hungry and had a splitting headache. Dr had tried Klonopin, but I had allergic reaction to that. Will these side effects go away or do I need to stop now and try something else?

The only side effect I get from taking this medication is I find myself yawning quite a bit. It isn't that I am tired, but it is a common side effect that can be a little annoying at times. Otherwise the small amount I take (10mg) daily in the morning helps keep my mind balanced without feeling as though I don't have control of my own thoughts and feelings.

I have just started this in hope of easing anxiety and getting some much needed sleep. But reading reviews I see some are not sleeping because of this med.. Can I get some feed back as this will determine if I even want to try this .. This is the second type of meds the doc is trying and the first was a waste of one month..

This is the first anti-depressant that had no side effects for me and it changed my life. For years I didn't laugh much and I was unhappy. About 2 weeks after starting this medicine, I realized that I felt like "myself" again. I recommend Celexa to everyone who can take it! ( I take it at night because it DOES make me sleepy.)

This medication has been deemed a miracle drug in my household. Within 3 weeks of taking this med I feel 95% better than I have in years. My only complaint is that I yawn a lot, but I would prefer yawning to depression!

I take 40mg each morning. I had no nausea and after a week or so at this dose my symptoms improved dramitically. No more panic, crying or feeling terribly sad. My sleep pattern improved too. I used to take ages getting to sleep and wake up in the very early hours. I had tried several other SSRIs but none of them worked long-term. Citalopram is different! I can get on with my life and no side-effects! I am a pharmacist as well as a patient and am so glad to have been prescribed this medecation.Read More Read Less

Though it did improve my symptoms somewhat, I would not likely recommend this medication to others. I switched to Citalopram from Lexapro, which worked great aside from side effects in the first 2 months. Lexapro was unfortunately not covered by insurance, which was why I switched. I was on Citalopram for nearly a year, but it was not as effective as Lexapro had been. My mood was much more variable - good on some days, but terrible on others. In addition, I gained 20 lbs on this medication because it increased my appetite and caused me to crave carbohydrates. I am currently seeing a Naturopathic Doctor and my treatment consists of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and fish oils. I feel better than I have in 10 years, without any chemical drugs and no side effects whatsoever.Read More Read Less
