I am 62 years old, have been taking sinemet 25/100's for 21 years. I started initially on 3/day, currently take 5/day. Drug has been a life saver. I need a walker to get around every morning until the first dose takes effect. Minor side effects. Careful with diet, and exercise regularly. Take no other PD related drugs.

For PD, been on low baby dose (1.5 tab 3/day) for 2 years, only affect has been to make me dizzy and nauseous. The more I try to take, the sicker I get. Tried 2 tabs at one time and I had to lay down from the sickness. Felt OK after the sickness passed (about 1.5 hrs) but the sickness was too much to be able to function in the world. Down to taking only 1 tab twice/day. Not very effective for...

I started taking 1/2 tablet three times a day for very frequent falls, with 'freezing of feet' in doorways and balance issues. My neurologist recommended, an increase to 1 tablet 3 times per day, with a 5 hour space between doses, because there seem to be gaps in the Sinemet coverage. I have to be sure and reorder it before I run too low to prevent not having enough, when I need to take the next dose. No nausea or constipation, or other signs aside from occasional increase in naps.

Have been on 1/2 of 25/100 for two years, and have had no major problems. Lately, I have noticed an increase in tiredness, depression and blurred vision. Have been wondering if I needed to increase the dosage.

I have just started taking generic Sinemet at bedtime for restless leg syndrome. Does this drug cause hair loss? Over a month ago, I stopped taking Topamax for prevention of migraines & now I have severe vertigo and more neuropathic symptoms, including RLS. Any information you can provide, I would appreciate. Thank You.

The usual four-hour cycle--starts to wear off at 3 1/2 hrs. depending on my level of tension. Otherwise, a magical loss of Parkinson's symptoms.

Prior to being put on this medication, I would take potassium tablet (under 100 MG) and 2 aspirin (325 mg) when symptoms appeared (wanted to stretch leg for "miles"). While in hospital, doctor prescribed Sinemet, in generic form, 3X a day. Works quickly to ease discomfort, but not as quickly as the potassium and 2 aspirin. Different manufacturers of the same medication give me different result times, but all eventually give relief.

My best friend (57 years) was diagnosed with Parkinsons at age 47, 15 years ago. He has taken sinimet for at least ten of those years. His daily use of pills is 20 to 30 despite having the brain stimulation surgery. Major side effects of the medicine at this level include frequent loss of balance resulting in hard falls, and for his wife and close friends, as well as my friend is frequent periods that he is incoherent , similar to a very intoxicated person. He also in the past six years has developed a significant desire for sex and to gamble. Are these side affects caused by the drug or are they symptoms of Parkinsons? Is the amount of pills he takes normal? Is his incoherence and falling consistent with an early onset, 15 year patient. Any suggestions to lessen or eliminate these side effects? Thanks, BT Read More Read Less

Prior to taking the drug I could at least get through half a day before getting the restless legs symptons, now they start the instance I wake up. It seems to have made it worse, not better.
