I started this medicine yesterday. Oddly from the rest of the post I read, my doctor ordered me to take this medication in one dose--4 pills at once. He's very good in his field and has 3 GYN offices he works in every week. He also advised me to abstain from sex for a week and no alcohol and ...that I vaginosis is SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED in the form of traditional, anal and oral sex (if your partner ...

I was on 400mg 3 times a day and experienced most of the side effects. On the last day I had stomach pain and diarrhea so I decided not to continue with it. Not sure if the bad bacteria was gone. I would never take this medicine again.

So I had a bacterial infection and was proscribed this. Day 3 I woke up with a leaky faucet nose and went through 2 boxes of tissue the 1st day accompanied by a fever, dizziness, and pounding headache. I thought I had the flu. 4th day I woke up to a rash from my feet to my lower stomach pretty bad and lightly everywhere else on my body. So I stopped taking it on day 4. The next day the fever and diziness went away. And then a couple days later the runny nose went away. Mind you it was all clear snot. Never discolored like when you are sick. And its day 4 after I stopped taking it, and rash is still there. Looks like the pin needle rash described. No hives and the 1st 2 days it didnt feel itchy. But expect an itch coming. I had to take a cold bath to feel better. Good luck. Never again.Read More Read Less

I got relief from the c. diff. Symptoms quickly, but by the third day I started noticing some balance issues. Today, sores have developed in my mouth and have rapidly expanded and my tongue is increasingly sore. Fortunately, I already have a doctor's appointment in the morning. I chose this drug over another because the other came with a $100 price tag after insurance. I'd rather pay the $100.

So I'm on Flagyl for the second time in my life. First time was for BV and it worked within 3 days. This time it's for an abcessed tooth, which I had no idea this medication could help for. I don't know for sure if it's this drug, or the Bactrim I'm also on, but I'm horribly nauseous. I have a slight metallic taste, in my throat, too. I know it's necessary so I'll handle it, but all in all, it works, it's just gnarly and really strong. Good luck. For BV it was like magic.

I was initially scared to take this med because of side effects I had read about . The only one Iâ??ve had is the dizziness. Iâ??m on my 4 th day - 3 more days to go . I have to say Iâ??ve had relief from the discharge after a day and a half . I had a partial hysterectomy prior to this infection and it was when I went for my six week check up that dr prescribed this antibiotic. I think it is a great drug . I hear so much about not drinking with it though. I like my wine with dinner but I didnâ??t dare chance it ! Violently ill ? No thank you ! Read More Read Less

I was having a completely normal pregnancy. I was working during pregnancy and had no issue. I visit ER for discharge and ER provider diagnosed me BV and prescribed Flagly. I was 8 wks and 2 days. I decided to hold off the medication and wait OBGYN provider. After 12days , I had first intial appointment with NP. She did ultrasound, pelvic exam, and blood work was done. I discussed with her about Flagly that was prescribed ER provider and my concern. She said to hold medication and that she will call me after review results. I received phone call 5/22 and was asked to pick up the medication and start taking. I ask again if it safe and I was told yes. I thought i should go to clininc and be tested to make baby safe, but this wasnâ??t my case. Star taking 500 mg metronidazole BID for 7 days after finishing the course, at 11 weeks 2 days pregnant. I start bleeding, pain, I visit ER 2 days , they donâ??t know why I bleeding, each time baby was fine and cervix was close. June 1 , I passed the fetus, I call 911 and went ER. Pathology studies confirm fetus male with no pathological abnormalities. I am DETERMINED that these antibiotics are what caused the miscarriage, on the internet several other people have said they miscarried after taking Flagly. What concerns me most is that all textbooks I read clearly stated that Flagly is contraindicated FIRST TRIMESTER ð??. If you are Provider please pay attention to this medication. I am devastated ð??¢. Donâ??t give this medication for first trimester. I was stupid to trust her but I will never trust anyone. BV doesnâ??t kill anyone but flagly kill my baby in a a week. I hold off this medicine and I was fine but I trust OBGYN I wish I hold as I did after ER visit. Read More Read Less

I took one dose of 4 pills, 500mg each which kind of concerned me being such a high number. No metal taste as mentioned in other posts and no side effects what so ever. I may be a touch thirstier then normal but nothing crazy. Symptoms have gotten better, not as much discharge and its been 10 hours since taking these pills.

I started this medication after coming down with c-diff from antibiotics from dental work I had done. This is my second day on this medication. It is so important that you do not drink alcohol of any kind while on this medication, and since I don't drink, I didn't think I would have any problems. But the last two nights, I have been violently ill and vomiting, and I finally figured out why: Advil Liqui-Gels, which contain sugar alcohols, the very thing I am supposed to avoid. Make sure that you read the labels of medication ingredients that you take so that you do not get sick like I did. Now that I know, I will be avoiding Advil Liqui-Gels like the plague for the rest of the time that I am on this medication. Other than this issue, the medication has been easy to take, and since I only take the Advil at night, it has been well tolerated every other time throughout the day when I have taken it. NEVER AGAIN, this medicine has made me so ill that I would never take it again even if you paid me $1 million. I was prescribed 500mg,3x a day for five days,I'm on day 3 and cannot stomach anymore, since I started taking it I have had joint pains and weakness (like arthritis pain), severe headache, vomiting, nausea, shivering (keep feeling hot and cold), constipation at first and now on day 3 I have severe watery diarrhea and stomach cramps, not to mention the flu like symptoms. I feel like I'm dying, and because it's the weekend I can't get any advice from my doctor. Can't even keep water down. :( AVOID AT ALL COSTS.Read More Read Less

Helped first 4 days without issue, then had insomnia, dark urine, stomach pain returned and day after finishing dose woke up at 4:20 am with anaphylaxis reaction to the Flagyl. Bad medication- doctor didn't want give it to me, but insurance would not cover the medication that would be more effective and cause less side effects because it runs $1890. Sad. Anyway, luckily I'm a former EMT and recognize the symptoms of anaphylaxis- was able to save myself from this drug. Beware and no the signs people, call 911 if u experience any breathing difficulty or hives, swelling of face. Read More Read Less

3 days in I got a stiff neck which turned into Peripheral neuropathy down right arm/shoulder. Horrible metal taste in my mouth. Discontinued the medication and one week later I'm about 70% recovery- still have numbness in fingers and soreness in arm.

I have taken antibiotics before for various short term reasons but nothing like this. This is by far the WORST antibiotic treatment I have ever endured. I am 12 days in of a 14 day treatment and can't wait to have my life back. This drug makes me feel anxious, depressed, fatigued and restless all at the same time. It is like there is a conflict where my mind wants to be productive but my body is fatigued and I end up unable to do anything. It seems like adult ADD. My muscles ache like I have the flu. When I wake up at the end of a course I feel like I am going to get a lot done in the day but 30 minutes after taking this I simply want to sit and do nothing. I have had to take time off of work because I simply can not focus and speaking of that my far away vision has become blurry. My advice to others is to ask your Dr. if there is a alternative drug to treat your infection. This one is the Devils concoction. Read More Read Less

Worst medication i have ever had. i started off vomiting once a day, then twice a day. My hands were tingly, and my feet. my scalp went tingly too. I felt so dizzy and thought i was going to pass out. this was just aweful. At first i thought this might have been symptoms of amoeba, but it was from the antibiotic. It was completely debilitating, metronodizole is a powerful drug. Whilst on this, i honestly was considering letting the parasite live again and stop this medication. this may be an ignorant statement, but i felt like a kemotherapy patient. Unfortunately I had all these symptoms on an island in a developing country and had to return to mainland. The more competent doctor on mainland, stopped the flagyl and prescribed dioxanide furoate. Interesting fact, Metronodizole is used to treat the parasite, however there are also eggs associated with the parasite, and they will hatch as well. metronodizol treats the parasite, dioxanide treats the eggs. these will show in stool sample results seperately, i had a high egg count so was more efficient to kill the eggs. so if you are having troubles, the antibiotic for the eggs may be more effective and effortless, with dioxanide furoate I have had no side effects (i have never had side effects with ANY medication before). I am 55 kg and 165 cm. maybe my size effected the impact of flagyl.Read More Read Less

Horrible side effects. Flu like symptoms. Throwing up, feeling of not being normal, etallic taste, fever, constant nausea. Horrible horrible drug. Marijuana is the only thing thatâ??s helped with my nausea. Depressed, no sexual feeling.... donâ??t even want to get up to pee.... I hate this drug. DO NOT TAKE, THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS.

After reading reviews I was very nervous to take this med, so I wanted to add my experience to the online noise. I've not had any negative side effects, not even the metallic taste, not even based on the power of suggestion. My symptoms cleared up after a few (3-4) days and I'm currently finishing it up. The pharmacist (and reviews) put the fear of god in me in regards to drinking, so I'm avoiding that, but I can see how it would be easy to slip up based on the fact that I otherwise feel totally fine. Definitely not worth figuring out if that is the side effect I would feel and I just have two days left.Read More Read Less

I was so very Leary to take this medicine and waited 3 days after I received it after a few panic attacks from reading reviews. However, After a week of taking both Flagyl and Cipro for an intestinal infection, I will say with the exception of feeling worn out, a few headaches and minor nausea, I had no trouble with this medication. The hardest part was staying out of the sun, particularly since I work outdoors. Staying out of the sun is very important. I did burn easily and had some itching while in the sun. The other side effect that was not consistent was dark urine. Read More Read Less
