I was prescribed Soma after years of bad experiences with other meds in this class. I have psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, so my muscles spasm around tender joints, affecting my life functions and my sleep quality. Now my doctor has the willies about prescribing this amazingly effective drug because of some over-protective ninny at the FDA. This drug works and I have never had a...

my doctor prescibed this medication for me for a disc problem (lower back)and it has worked wonderful, it's allowed me to return to work, and my quality of life is much better, you just need to take it as prescibed, and only for as long as you have your pain.

This crap gives me headaches, just as it says in the "side effects".. And I'm prone to getting severe migraines, and this stuff brings em' on!! So needless to say, I will not use it again.

Sometimes it feels that this medication does not work at all and other times it works well. Curious to know if any governmental agency checks on the potency of these types of medications?

I, like many of you here, have been in multiple car accidents (thanks you speeding LA schmucks) and have recently had the titanium plate and screws removed from left fibula due to constant agony from pressure changes. Between the spinal injuries and the legs deal, I'm in constant pain and to my Dr.'s amusement, won't take narcotic pain relievers at all. Soma has literally turned my life in a complete 180. I'm not short, grumpy and agitated, trying to plot a way to stay in bed because I ache. I'm up going places, getting crap done and trying to do charity work! I'm with the old man, if it kills me, well then I'll die knowing I lived.Read More Read Less

This medicine has helped me a lot with my neuropathy episodes that cause pain, severe cramping, and lack of sleep. I take either one 350 mg or just a half pill at night before bedtime. It has helped me sleep and seems to prevent the cramping spasms at night.

I get migranes all the time. No doctor could find a pain med that would help, and I got them sometimes for a week straight. After seeing a specialist in Boston he perscribed soma. As long as I take at least 2 and go to bed it usually works. If I take more than 3 in a day it makes me sick. It can be very addicting, so I try to watch how much I rely on it so I dont run into any problems. When I have migranes, these pills take the pain away so I no longer have migranes for days and days and days. Life saver!Read More Read Less

I have taken Soma (Carisoprodol) for 12 years. According to the medical society, I abuse it as I take up to 10, 350mg tablets a day. They tell me it is addicting, if so, I don't care. Doctors will give me 12 extra strenght Vicodin (narcotic) a day with 4 Soma and think nothing of it. When I tell them I don't want the Vicodin, just give me more Soma, they get spasdic. I don't get it. Soma may kill me, it may not, but it keeps me going without surgery and without narcotics. Therefore, if it is addictive, so be it. I am 60 years old, in pain with severe muscle spasms, doc says I need surgery, I say screw you. Therefore I get Soma from my doctor and from anyplace that has brick walls and calls themselves a pharmacy and has a license to dispense medicine hanging on their wall. Maybe, and only just maybe, those under 40 years old maybe should be careful about taking certain drugs. But for me, Soma works, I can function on it, so I will take it. Preferably the Medical Society, Doctors, etc. will get onboard and stop worrying about it and start worrying more about narcotics. NUFF SAID!Read More Read Less

I use the prescription for Carpal Tunnel spasm but usually only take it before I go to sleep, it has proven to really help.

I have been taking carisoprodol for about 10 months now, It has helped relax the spasm I get in my back due to scoliosis, and other spinal problems that I have, If I had not been prescribed this medication I dont know how I would have been able to keep up with house hold duties and taking care of my children.
