I take Xanax only as needed for Panic Attacks. It helps to know that I only have to "hang on" for 15 minutes or so and then it will kick in and work well. I am thrilled with it and don't know what I would do if it wasn't available.

If you are taking it to treat a condition, be healthier, and be more alive and able to participate in life, you and your doctor can make good choices about whether xanax is helping or not. While Xanax relieved my anxiety, the next day I felt unnaturally tired and could hardly get out of bed.

But, I have been on xanax for 15 years now - I want to get off - how or what do I do or take to go off. Have tried before, but can't manage. I take 1 mg AM and PM - I have tried the real slow method but get down to 1/2 mg at pm - and next day I have quills, racing heart, fear, etc. What can I do?

This drug saved me when my husband was dying of cancer. The anxiety I suffered was debilitating and the Xanax allowed me to function without many side effects.
