To all of you who are thinking of stopping the medication because of weight gain, feeling like a zombie, those terrible nightmares, lack of sex drive, etc... I too have had all of these side effects. Before starting treatment on Remeron coupled with Lexapro (after trying every other drug on the market and suffering for 5+ years) I truly was ready to die. I had no will to live, I was angry at every...

Was put on this for help with sleep and,to gain weight. Definitely makes you sleep. First time I have slept all night in years and did not realize how much a good night's sleep makes you feel better. With this drug I have to take one half of a 15mg. Tab because it is so strong. It is making me eat more too. My BMI was way too low, but I have always been thin. My Doctor got concerned because my blood counts are so low and I will be 62 soon. Wanted to put about 20 lbs. On me and hope it stays. So far a good experience.Read More Read Less

Easy to use because it's a pill, but it's useless garbage. All it does it cause extreme dehydration, it doesn't help with depression at all.

I was hospitalized for 10 days after trying to commit suicide due to a dark depression following the death of my husband. This medication was given to me along with Trazodone and Melatonin. It sure lets me sleep good. In fact, I want to sleep ALL the time! When I get up in the morning, I feel sedated and I feel that way until mid-afternoon. I have been on this medication 14 days and have gained 2 lbs so far. If I continue to put on the weight, I will protest. Dr will have to change my medication because gaining weight would create another depressive mood!Read More Read Less

Was dealing with cancer and was given Remeron for depression. After having surgery for the cancer which was successful I continued with the drug but was having issues with my blood pressure. My BP would drop over 20 points when I stood up and I would lose my breath when walking short distances. All symptoms went away once I quit taking the drug. I would not recommend this drug to anyone as it set my recovery back greatly.

I was a mess before taking Remeron. Once I began taking Remeron, I started feeling more and more relaxed day by day. My moods have now stabilized without any relapses.

I was prescribed Remeron 30mg (on top of 30mg escitalopram) for panic disorder and depression. It has worked wonders for my panic attacks: I have not had a full-symptom panic attack since starting it. It also puts me to sleep every night which is highly appreciated. The downside: weight gain. I do not eat more than before I started, and yet I gained weight all year. I'd recommend frequent exercise or reducing your regular calorie intake if you want to avoid gaining weight, even then not sure it's possible. Read More Read Less

The first night I took this medication I slept for at least 12 hrs and needed a nap after. I was extremely weak and groggy. I suffered from dry mouth and felt thirsty often. I also got the hiccups frequently (was annoying). I had a decrease in appetite.

You will gain a tremendous amount of weight if you use Remeron. I was hungry literally all the time! I am a skinny to muscular guy who tried this drug for about 6 months and I gained over 30 pounds! The only thing that worked is it helped me sleep due to the weight gain. I normally don't eat very much or have an appetite, but I would go out for breakfast and eat a full pancake breakfast followed by more sweet items and I would still be hungry. I felt like a pregnant woman with cravings for constant food. Stay away from this drug! There are too many better alternatives out there.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with bipolar 2, mostly depressed over 30 years ago. I have taken most of the drugs prescribed for MDD, BP2 and even a few atypical anti-psychotics. For the last three years or so, I have been taking a drug 'soup' of Effexor, Remeron and Lamictal. for the first time in my life (I'm 60), I have been able to function in what I can only guess is some kind of 'normal' way. If i miss any of my meds, i feel like my head is going to explode and I cannot think logically, concentrate or act rationally. This combination has saved my life. I would probably be living on the street if I hadn't found a psychiatrist who was willing to work with me until we found something that worked. Thanks, MNZ, you know who you are!Read More Read Less

I feel better after 3 weeks than I have felt in my life. Was suffering from serotonin syndrome (shaking, muscle spasams and twitching, tremors, confusion etc.) and didn't realize what was happening. I was taking Zoloft and tramadol at the same time which caused the too high levels of serotonin in my body. This can be life threatening so be sure you check what drug interactions there are with any psych meds and tramadol. I feel like a new person now that it is straightened out.

My doctor added to my Lexapro and I felt 100% better in about 3 weeks.I started gaining weight and he upped the dose to 40 mg per day not 20 and he said the higher doses causes you to lose weight, I have lost 10 pounds in 6 weeks. Over course I have cut out sugar and speed walk 2 miles about 5 days a week. But I had been doing that prior. Not the suger decrease but the excersie.

Have had major depression for my entire life. 61 y/o male. Have tried all anti-depressant types, to no avail. My doctor prescribed me Remeron to help me sleep! Works great with me for that, with the added bonus of really wild dreams. After two weeks, I was surprised to be able to go to bed, and wake up totally refreshed, and willing to get out of bed. Then I read up on the anitdepressant qualities, and was amazed. We upped my dose to 30mg/day, and the depression literally melted away after two weeks from the start. I'm flabbergasted!!!! Have gained a few pounds, but I don't care, I feel so much better without an ounce of depression. Read More Read Less

I had dealt with major depression for years and had tried just about all of the antidepressants but did not improve. Finally my doc tried Remeron on me and I began to improve. I always claim that Remeron saved my life. I'll always be on several other antidepressants in addition to the Remeron due to the severity of the depression but at least I don't feel suicidal any longer.

I had severe insomnia for years, only sleeping 2-3 hrs a night. I also have anxiety. I have tried several medications for insomnia, but they did not work. This works wonders! I have gained weight, but it is worth it for a nights sleep and feeling more refreshed. The first two weeks of taking it, I was extremely tired all day, but after that I was fine.

Miracle pill! I've been suffering with major depression, severe panic attacks and agoraphobia for 30 years. Have tried many other antidepressants with no results. It took about a month of horrible side effects but my dr. pleaded with me to give it a try. I am so happy she did! Literally overnight my panic disappeared, I woke up happier than I've ever been in my whole life, I leave the house daily with a smile. This drug is truly a miracle! The only side effect I have now is insatiable appetite but I was grossly underweight so I'm not worried. Also this medicine does not effect sex life like all the other ones do. I can't say enough about remeron, especially for people with severe panic and depression.Read More Read Less
