Took 10 days of 500mg tablets for severe sinus infection (horrible swelling of my face around brow bones, under eyes), my worst infection of my sinus area in a very long time. I get an average of 2 sinus infections a year, due to malformation of the sinus glands. I have taken Levaquin before and never had a problem, so when I began to get these wierd side effects I looked for causes all over ...

Just 3 days into taking Levaquin, I tore a tendon in my right wrist. Within a week, I could barely walk from a pulled Achilles tendon in my right foot. Then both elbows and my right knee. Then my left Achilles tendon. I developed a cyst in my left hand, fast heartbeat, dizziness, bouts of temporary vision loss, nightmares and panic attacks. The burning pain that wracked my body made me feel like I was dying. I had no idea what was going on. Turns out Levaquin has a black box warning and all my symptoms were listed. It's been two Read More Read Less

In early October 2017 I was a healthy 18 year old girl with a bright future ahead of me. Then I was given levaquin for a sinus infection. Now it is late April 2018 and I am a severely disabled 19 year old girl with no future to speak of. This drug and other fluoroquinolones are poison. Poison that strikes quickly and without mercy. All it took was 7 pills to ruin my life. I spend every waking moment in extreme pain. My worst days pre-poison are leagues better than my best days post-poison. I'm in pain to the point where it keeps me from sleeping at night. I need a stairlift just to get to the second floor of my house. I'm confined to a wheelchair outside of my house. I have extreme nerve pain, fatigue, migraines, tendonitis, brain fog... I once had to go to the ER twice in a week. I think I have too many symptoms to even fit in this box! So I'll keep it short- this is a failed chemotherapy drug. This drug was used to combat anthrax in the gulf war. There's an FDA black box warning on this drug, saying it is only to be used in dire situations. I was not informed of any of this. It's too late for me. But if I could save someone from taking this watered-down cyanide, that would be enough. Please, I'm begging you, stay far away from levaquin and all fluoroquinolones. Seek other options. If your doctor keeps hounding you to take it, seek other doctors! Research. Study. Please, consider these lifelong symptoms and ponder if this is really the best option. If you absolutely MUST take it, try to take as little as possible. 7 pills destroyed me. For many others it takes less. Please... you don't know how good you have it until it's gone.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Levofloxacin 750 mg tablets for 7 days for bacterial pneumonia. I started taking the drug on a Friday and it is now Sunday. I haven't slept since I started taking this drug. After reading the reviews on here I plan to stop taking this drug immediately and have my doctor put me Azithromycin. It seems much more tolerated without all the side effects.

Urologist prescribed drug for a complicated UTI caused by Ecoli. Took one pill and threw up. Was sick for 2 days with nausea, overall body aches, insomnia and anxiety. I regret taking even the 1 pill. I resisted using the drug initially when Dr. suggested it but I was so sick and went along with her recommendation as she told me it would be a "good fit" for my UTI. I called to chew her out the next day when I had enough strength to do so. Needless to say, I started a different regimen to treat the UTI successfully by going to an infusion center for intravenous Rocephin which is what I had initially asked her to do. I took this drug for 10 days and on the 8th day I woke up with extreme shoulder pain. Now a week later I'm still feeling muscle pain and tendonitis throughout my whole body. I have a Dr. appointment to treat a bad case of oral thrush. The sinus infection is gone but I didn't know about the side effects. Please before taking this drug do some research.

Side effects with me have been going on for 10 years. Vision problems. Damaged optical nerve, Headaches, dizzy, Neuropathy. Tendons still over stretch easy and painful. Walking out to get the mail can cause pain who knows where. Ringing in ears. Don't expect help from class action lawsuits either. Only people that get rich on class action lawsuits are the attorneys. I got $40,000 offer. Attorney takes 40%. All money paid by health insurance gets taken out of the 40K and they get paid back. I would get about $15K for a lifetime of misery. People that sued outside of class actions got up in the $million range. Stay away from Baron and Budd law firm would be my advice. I am on lyrica which cost ME $120 a month after insurance plus my insurance deductible must be paid by me before anything is covered. Taking Levaquin suffering from it and hiring Baron and Budd to help me with my lawsuit was the second most disappointing thing in my entire life. The first was the death of my son. Levaquin and Baron and Budd is second without question. Perfectly healthy in my 40s to feeling like an 80 year old man within weeks then given a false sense of compensation by lawfirm, Bad situation for sure. I wish I would have never allowed Baron and Budd to represent me. The false hope ending with a slap in the face of $15,000 is absurd. Did I mention the depression? Got even worse after the Baron and the Budd let down. Promise of help and hope and then the rug is yanked out from under you. I feel sorry for anyone going through this. You are not alone.Read More Read Less

was prescribed Levafloxacin for an uncultured sinus infection. It never went away. Still have the same sinus infection for 1-1/2 years, but have horrible adverse reactions to this drug..horrible anxiety; insomnia-2-4 hours of sleep per night for 1-1/2 years, lost 40+ pounds of muscle, the list goes on. dont take this unless you are literally dying and there is no other drug available. it should be taken off the market.

First day had minor upset stomach but everything was ok. Second day real upset cramp style stomach ache. Third day took with meal so won't be as bad. After 2 hrs lips got tight and started to swell. Heart rate spiked and took some benadryl in case throat decides to swell. Feet and hands started to itch bad. Within 5 hrs felt itchy all over, heart rate up alot of anxiety slight headache. Stopped taking after 3 pills supposed to be 10 days. Now I'm taking benadryl. Itchy rash over back limbs and didgits. Swelling of fingers hands and heart rate 119 bom constant. This drug did good by making my lung mucus clear. Side effect of that are worse than the cure. Extreme itch and rash I hope goes away. So over all easy to use 5stars 1 pill daily, sort of worked 2 star but satisfying? I wanna give it 0 stars. Please if there is a different rout take it not worth all these different types of side effects that last long. Read More Read Less

Doctors, do not prescribe this medication. Everyone, NEVER take this medication unless you like taking chances. After one day, my knees began aching and then my shoulders. You do not all of a sudden start having all these problems when you were perfectly fine before taking this. My husband was also given this and now has constant hip problems. We are both in our 60's.

Severe tendon pain within 2 weeks of starting treatment. Severe fatigue, muscle and joint pain. Rapid heartbeat, dizziness and insomnia. Severe liver pain for a few weeks after stopping medication. I COULD NOT WALK or go to work for 8 weeks after taking the drug. I consider myself lucky that I have recovered about 90% after almost a full year. Thousands of people do not ever recover from these irreversible side effects. Educate yourself on this class of drugs and do not take unless they are the only thing that will save your life. This drug can ruin your life, and has killed people.Read More Read Less

Unfortunate that we do not have negative stars. after one dose, this medication ruined my life. The first dose, my knees (bilateral), have been affected. I can barely walk. Thank you FDA for knowing this drugs should have been black boxed years ago. And thank you to the drug manufacturer for knowing this and continuing to hurt thousands of people all for your profit. Assholes!

I was diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia 8 months ago. Dr told me it was necessary to use this drug because it was the powerful antibiotic that would cure my pneumonia. Had to sign off on some hideous side effects that doc told me are incredibly rare. Reluctantly I took the medicine. I've been a runner for 20 years. Never had an injury all of those years except for shin splints when I first began running. Two months after taking this medicine I tore the soft tissue underneath my foot during a run. Haven't fully recovered and I can no longer get through a workout without discomfort or pain. Coincidence? I don't believe so.Read More Read Less

Prescribed 500 mg once daily for 10 days after diagnosis of a severe UTI. ER doctor had to cath me to even get a urine sample. No side effects at all from prescription. However, 4 days after last dose the symptoms started to return. Now I am on macrobid.

I was given this awful killer drug. 10 Days as prescribed. on the eights day. I could not move my arms, Its been 3 weeks, Now I can';t move either arm. Pain in electric, stabbing and constant. I was given pain meds and referred to a rhumatologist. I know its from Levaquin. Getting a lawyer, but more importantly, WHEN WILL THIS EXTREME PAIN GO AWAY?? I was to start new job, now I can't . I am 65 years old. was in great health except for the pnenomis. I can't get dresses, clean my house, drive, sleep or do anything. These pills are posino and shame on dr. for prescribing them. They also had me on prednisone and 2 z packs./ Im 65. There is a CLEAR warning that if you are over 60 and are on steriods you should be very careful when taking this drug. I asked pharmacist and Dr. office, why so much antibiotices, with all these warnings, they said side effect are slim and its a good drub. Well it isn't I can't pick up my grandchild AND NOW i can"t work.... WORST DRUG EVER. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PROTEct yourself< do not take this drug!!!!!!!!Read More Read Less

I understand all the concerns with this drug and the possible complications. I have taken this drug numerous times and it works for me when nothing else will. It does drop my blood sugars dramatically to the point I take small cans of juice to bed with me. Had to drink 3 during the night last night. When I got up this morning my blood sugar was still at 83. Without a doubt take with caution. For me this works when nothing else will.

I was diagnosed with bronchitis and pneumonia last year same month. I felt like I was getting bronchitis again went to the doctor and the very early stages and he prescribed this medication again. It works amazing I can't take Z packs or other antibiotics because it upsets my stomach. The only thing I noticed is this medication makes me a little dizzy and have diarrhea. Other than that it's a miracle to me

Product worked. BUT...may have caused my profound hearing loss. Doctors are unsure if it was the Levaquin oral or pneumonia and ear infections that caused it to occur. As a result, I needed a cochlear implant on one side and a powerful hearing aid on the other. Beware!

I was given this for a suspected UTI and stones that I didn't even end up having! And from 9 FluoroQuinolone Pills I sustained over 30 serious and percent and disabling damages within 2 hours, days and weeks... by 5-6 months I almost died! This are chemotherapeutic drugs and given to fight Anthrax... these FQs are disagusiesex as antibiotics, but their not... even 1 pill has killed perfectly healthy people. Now the FDA has 3 Blackboxes on them since May 12/16 that they are not to be used for sniffles, sinus infections, pink eye or any minor bacterial infections in the USA; sadly Canada has 0 blackboxes and and now they give them to infants and children like ciprodex. I was poisoned by Cipro XL (Levaquin is also a FQ like Cipro) April 30/13.. now going on 4 years and my life has never been the same! Do not take FQs unless you are dying! Even then I wouldn't take it if I now the damage it causes...like an atomic bomb going off in your body.Read More Read Less
