Took 10 days of 500mg tablets for severe sinus infection (horrible swelling of my face around brow bones, under eyes), my worst infection of my sinus area in a very long time. I get an average of 2 sinus infections a year, due to malformation of the sinus glands. I have taken Levaquin before and never had a problem, so when I began to get these wierd side effects I looked for causes all over ...

I was prescribed this med for a sinus infection. I took it for 2 days. Each day within hours I had severe tendonitis in my wrist and could not move my hand. Had to go back to urgent care to get something else. I wish I had read these reviews earlier. Terrible drug for me.

This is the best antibiotic i've ever used. it works even when other antibiotics have failed, and had absolutely no side effects. Would definitely use it again.

The use of this medication caused a right bicept tendon to rupture. Due to my age at the time(60), repair was contraindicated although it has proven to be problematic since and should have been repaired.

I was prescribed this medication for pneumonia I developed after a surgery in which I was intubated. Within a few hours of taking my first dose, I became horribly ill and began vomiting. As soon as I vomited the nearly whole pill, I immediately felt better although my initial condition was still present. I can't remember a time when I was so sick, so fast, and for such an obvious reason. Of course, I called my Dr. and was prescribed another antibiotic, but wow, a drug this powerful makes me nervous.Read More Read Less

After taking 750 mg for 3 out of the 10 day prescription, I developed a rash on my face and head. It feels like a chemical burn and my eyes burn to the point of watering. I already had joint and muscle pain so that has only been exasperated. I became nauseous and dizzy. I stopped the medication and called my physician. It has now been 4 days since I stopped the medication and my symptoms are still increasing. The rash seems to be spreading beyond my hairline. Nausea and burning eyes have increased and joint pain is more severe. Read More Read Less

After two pills, my heart started to beat irregularly, i felt like my skin was burning, and crawling, but it was when i quit seeing in color, and only black and white, that i went to the emergency room, where i was treated like a hypochondriac...told they had never heard of such a reaction from an antibiotic, a week later the ankle and leg pain came. This drug should not be given. A couple years later, my new doctor said, it is like treating a small infection with an atom bomb, it is overkill. Maybe there is a use for it, but i would not risk it unless the infection was already killing me. I still had issues a year later. Very bad stuff.Read More Read Less

After 6 out of 10 pills I ended up with Achilles tendon pain on my right leg. I then got Azithromycin pills. I am a 66 male. I will not take Levaquin again. It has been one week since I stopped taking Levaquin and I still have pain. I hope this helps.

I ached all over, was exhausted, and my joints were so sore I could hardly walk. This drug should be taken off the market. I will never take it again. I am still not sure if I will ever get back to normal.

I take warfarin because of mechanical valves and combined with this drug, I could have died. A week in the hospital because my INR was so high after my legs gave out and I landed on the floor (called 911). Four months later I am still dealing with the after effects. All this having taken only TWO pills. This drug should not be on the market.

Took the IV treatment and it went to work right away the first 24 hours were painful in the area were the infection was lodged. after 48 hours the inflamation was almost gone. Continue treatment for 5 days with 750 pills. I'm an early 50's user. The nasty infection is gone now.

DANGEROUS TO USE. I used Levaquin twice, and after the 2nd dosage my right ulnar nerve became inflamed and had to be relocated. Then my right outer ankle became inflamed and needed physical therapy. Found out too late that this drug causes nerve damage, and the labeling now states such. Don't risk yourselves or your families - stay away because the nerve and tendon permanent damage occurs with thousands of people.

This drug has been very effective for treating staph in my sinuses but I'm pretty sure gave me tendonitis in my elbow which is now being treated. I have been on tons of different antibiotics over my lifetime with chronic sinusitis including 2 surgeries. I have been cultured on numerous occasions with staph. After taking this drug in September 2013 I was finally free for the first time of any sinus issue. It lasted about 9 months and then it came back. I have been on it twice since then and I did get better but not with the same results. The last time I was on it, was April 2015 and I also was taking prednisone which I didn't take with it previously. I've never had tendonitis and that same month started to have weakness in my elbow. It gradually got worse to the point I went to the doctor where it was confirmed as tendonitis. The info on the drug sheet is always bold and upfront but does say it is rare. After reading these reviews it doesn't appear it is so rare as the fact sheet claims. I didn't notice any tendon problems right away. I'd just be very aware and not take steriods while on it. The fact sheet does say taking steroids increases your risk of tendon problems as does being over 60. I'd take heed to those warnings if you fall into that category. Read More Read Less

Prescribed 500mg 1 x daily for 14 days for pneumonia, starting feeling better after 4 days, but around day 7 started having foot/leg/knee pain which progressively got worse. Tried to stick it out but quit at day 12, been off it 2 days and still hurting (feet especially) but pharmacist says give it a week or two...other than that no problems, it did work very well for my illness.

This is my 6th time taking levaquin. It works for my pneumomia... But the first 5 times had severe leg/foot cramps. Tightening of the tendons in my heels. This time my foot and ankle swelled so bad I could hardly walk. Also on day 8 my back started hurting and feeling so stiff I couldn't even stand straight. I decided not to take it for the last 2 days. It's been 4 days and my back is still hurting. Right on my backbone it seems to even be swollen. I will never take levaquin again. I just hope it's not permanent damage.... Read More Read Less
