The dr. prescribed this for my 4 yr. old. I was told he had a sinus infection. He had a bad cough and was wheezing so they gave him a breathing treatment at the drs. office. He did not have any side effects. His behavior did not change as stated in other reviews. He was also put on an antibiotic. I cannot say for sure if this medicinie helped his condtion, that's why I gave a low rating on effect...

My 2 yo had to take this medication and overall, for his asthma, it seems to have worked for the most part. For his attitude, not all all. Like the other parents have discribed, his mood went from regular to horrid. He only took it for 5 days and he hasn't been on it for about 8 days now. I wish I knew when this will be out of his system. He has uncontrollable anger and diarrhea from this medication. It's absolutely horrible. The possitives don't outweigh the negatives in this case. He feels absolutely horrible and is acting horrible - I definately won't give this to him again.Read More Read Less

My 24 m/o was prescribed this yesterday for swollen tonsils. Just after the second dose he went absolutely insane. SCREAMING, yelling, hitting, throwing and then he just stopped for a few minuets. He stopped after we give him gas drops. After a while he would start all over. Never again.

My 3 year old was tearing her skin open and bleeding after eating peanuts. After one day her skin was cleared up and I never had any trouble with her behavior. We finished the 5 day dose.

My 4 yr old daughter was prescribed this for poison ivy and to be taken for 10 days. It helped to clear the condition up for the most part. I also noticed a behavior change involving "crazy" off the cuff tantrums. They were different tantrums that are usually related to this age. She also has a severe rash on most of her body. Needless to say we are going to the her own doctor.

Like the other children I have read about on this page our doc prescribed it for three days for croup....oh my gosh, after two we stopped...it was not helping and worse than that our sweet little 21 month old turned into a wild animal...she was biting, throwing herself, crying for no reason, not eating, screaming at us and pushing kids down, and the next minute was exhausted. She will not sleep and lays in her bed and cries... This was quite a shock. We had heard the stories but until you live it you can't understand...My question now is how long does it stay in their system??? Never again!!!Read More Read Less

OMG. My two children (30 month and 18 month olds) each had allergic reaction to insect bites while vacationing out of town. The Dr. at the local hospital prescribed the prednisolone for 7 days. We stopped at two and a half. It stopped the swelling which had swollen the 18 month old's eye shut but the fits and tyrades were out of control. My happy go lucky 30 month old had a screaming/crying fit while driving for over 50 miles. I wanted to jump out of the moving car. The medicine definitely works but I wonder if its worth the kids' reactions. I wonder if there is a better drug? Read More Read Less

yes, even though this drug helped what it was supposed to, it had many side effects. Your face puffs up, like you just got your wisdom teeth pulled. I developed soars in my nostrils, and had major mood swings. You also have weight gain because of an increased appetite. So yes the effectiveness is great but me personally have a hard time with its side effects.

My 3 yr. old daughter was given this when she has croup. I didn't notice any effectiveness for her croup. After taking it 4 days she was up all night complaining mouth was sore. Sure enough, little white bumps all over the inside of her cheeks and throat. I was enraged finding that my daughter then had thrush...being someone who has suffered from thrush as an adult, one of the worst pains I have ever felt besides childbirth!! After researching online, I found out that this medication can cause thrush, no thanks to the dr. for giving us any info about it. So upset, it's been one thing after another for my daughter. I would not use this again. My son is also taking it for croup, we'll see if he'll be getting thrush too. Read More Read Less

My five year old son took three doses of this medication. On the morning of the 3ed day, he woke up and could not walk. We thought that his legs were asleep and brushed it off. On the 4th morning the same thing happened however it was much more severe. We discontinued the medication.

My son had asthma and coughs non-stop when he gets in cold weather, when exercising or when he has a cold. This medication helps stop his cough almost immediately and enables him to sleep. Haven't noticed much change in personality, but his heart rate does increase.
